Antique American Clocks January 2022
123. $200
Ansonia Clock Co. “Hermes”, ca. 1904. A beautifully refinished figural, 15 inches tall
and 16 inches wide. No missing pieces, the signed dial is practically perfect behind a thick beveled glass, but the hands are
incorrect. The signed, 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running and striking, although the strike hammer needs adjustment. A nice figural; in Greek mythology Hermes was the god’s herald (messenger) with a winged helmet and sandals, and was called Mercury
in Roman mythology. $200-$350.
