66.      $600

E. Howard & Co. “No. 70 Regulator”, ca. 1900.  An old finish with a nice patina on this 31-inch walnut case.  Both glasses are old and possibly original.  The dial is old with a little chipping, some fading, and is signed.  The minute hand is correct, the hour hand a marginal replacement.  The steel plate movement is signed and running with a proper pendulum stick and a number 70 weight; the bob may be a replacement.  An old weight shield but no tie-down and no label.  AAC sold a similar example in 2020 for $850.  $700-$1000.

UPDATE:  A sharp-eyed viewer noted that the tip of the idler post has broken off where the small pin holds the idler wheel in place.  This doesn't prevent the clock from running, as the gear is kept in place by the hour hand wheel when the clock is vertical.  The idler gear is the solid wheel on the front lower right.
