Birge, Peck & Co. “Extra 8 day brass clock” 1849-1859.  A second example (with #61) of this popular style of 8-day clock.  Mahogany veneer in excellent form, three likely original glasses with the tablets showing the “United States Hotel Saratoga” and “Barnum’s Villa”; both have some losses but are intact enough to look good.  A period painted metal dial, also with some chipping, and correct hands.  The unsigned 8-day, time-and-strike strap-brass movement is running and striking like new.  A very good label inside.  One old dust-cover on top and two old weights included.  $175-$275.
