Ansonia “Crystal Regulator No. 3” ca. 1914.  This is the first time I have seen this finish on an Ansonia porcelain (or any porcelain); R.O. Schmitt’s called it “opalescent grey” but that doesn’t do it justice, and neither do my photos.  There are hints of pink and green, depending on how you view the clock, and it has a very pearlescent/opalescent sheen – it’s quite unusual.  There are four good, beveled glasses, tarnished brass on the posts, and a flawless signed dial on this 18-inch-tall regulator.  The signed 8-day time and half-hour strike movement is running and striking as required; there is one ruby and one steel pallet on the escapement.  No recent sales of this opalescent model.  $1200-$1800.
