Antique American Clocks January 2022
22. $175
Chauncey Jerome column & cornice, ca. 1845. A 27-inch case with bright rosewood veneer
in excellent shape and mahogany on the sides. The two milk-glasses are likely original and in very good condition; the dial
glass is also likely original. The half-columns are grain-painted. The wooden dial appears to be original to the case,
the hands possible replacements. The 30-hour weight-driven movement is signed Chauncey Jerome, New Haven, and is running and
striking, driven by two old weights. A Jerome-style pendulum bob and a very nice label inside. This is an uncommon model;
I found one sale at Schmidt’s in 2016 for $350. $200-$350.
