Antique American Clocks January 2022
19. $750
Seth Thomas “Hecla”, 1884. One of Seth Thomas’s finest shelf clocks with a quarter-hour
strike on two nested bells behind the gong. The 22.5-inch case is oak with a clean, old finish; I see no damage. The door
glass is likely original, the dial is paper with proper hands. The 8-day, time, strike, and chime movement is signed and running,
but the strike and chime trains are very sticky and will need attention. The pendulum bob is damascened nickel. There
is a dark label inside on the bottom. AAC sold one last summer for $1350 and Cottone’s sold one last year for $1300. $800-$1200.
