F. Kroeber “Langtry”, ca. 1883. A 22.5-inch walnut case with an old finish and rich
patina. All the trim and finials are present. The door glass is original, as is the black paper dial, brass hands, and
Kroeber pendulum. The backboard may be a replacement and there is no label. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed
Kroeber; it is running and striking on the wire gong mounted on a Kroeber base. Some wear to the dial and the glass stencil. A nice example with the uncommon black dial; Schmitt’s sold one in 2018 for $225. Page 309 in Ly’s book Kroeber Clocks. $175-$250.
