Antique American Clocks January 2022
13. $250
Eli & Samuel Terry pillar & scroll, 1824-1827. This company was formed between
Eli and his brother Samuel to manufacture pillar & scroll clocks; the clocks were made by Samuel. It ran concurrently with
the Terry and Sons business. This example has a good finish with some repairs, including a knob replacement to the key escutcheon;
the brass finials have wooden posts. The feet and skirt are original as is the scroll top, with one repair to the left scroll. Both glasses are newer, the tablet repainted nicely. The wooden dial board has some nice decorations, but the chapter ring and
numerals have been repainted. The hands are period and correct. The 30-hour wooden movement will only run for a minute
or two, it will strike. Old weights and a dark but readable label. Tin dust cover on the back of the movement. $250-$600.
