Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 5˝ Belgrade”, 1886.  The 35-inch case is walnut with an old dark finish.  All the trim pieces are original and in place, except for one missing scallop on the lower right side. The gold incising on the dial boards is quite nice; the door glass is old.  The paper dials are clean and old; the minute hand is a replacement.  The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed Welch and made for ICCC.  It is running and striking on a cathedral gong, and the calendar is advancing without problem.  Did you know that ICCC made two types of gallery tops and three different types of door stiles?  This example has the simpler gallery top and the early East Lake carvings on the door stiles (see Warren, Ithaca’s Clock Makers, page 127-128).  This clock also came with a 30-day time-only movement.  Prices for this model are quite variable, with a sale in 2021 at Fontaine’s for $2300.  $1600-$2400.
