2.         $4500

George A. Jones jeweler’s regulator, 1864-1874.  An 89-inch walnut case with burl veneer on raised door panels and the top and bottom trim.  The glass in the door is old and, given the size, must be original.  An enameled dial with a sweep seconds hand and a pinwheel movement that is running without problem; although the movement is not signed, the mount is the same as that seen in other Jones pinwheel clocks.  A brass weight hangs behind the gridiron (temperature-compensating) pendulum.  I can find no other examples of this clock, and very few Jones pinwheels at all, although two examples are shown in Ly’s book, Longcase Clocks and Standing Regulators on page 302.  A rare example in outstanding condition.  $4500-$5500.
