265.    $100

Modern blinking eye clock, “John Bull”, 1994.  A second modern cast iron reproduction of a Bradley & Hubbard blinking eye novelty clock from the 1870’s.  John Bull was the English “everyman”, depicting a farmer from the 1700’s, and was the subject of political satire.  This figure is sometimes referred to as “Squire”.   Like #261, it holds a quartz battery-operated movement that has a pendulum lever used to move the eyes up and down.  It is running spottily. The paint on the figure is nicely done and there is a label on the base.  $100-$250.
