243.    $250

Seth Thomas “Parlor Calendar No. 5”, ca. 1890.  A 20-inch walnut case with a light stain and a smooth, clear finish that is likely original; the base and the dial board have a darker finish that contrasts nicely.  Both dial glasses are likely original, as are the dials, which have been varnished and show little flaking.  The hands are correct.  The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed and running, striking on a brass bell.  The weekday roller is advancing but the calendar date needs adjustment.  Horton’s sold this model in 2018 for $300; Fontaine’s sold one that same year for $350.  $250-$350.
