232.    $150

Chauncey Jerome paper mâché fusee, 1845-1855.  The card label on the inside back flap indicates that was made by Jerome in New Haven.  The wood case is 13 inches tall with gilt and polychrome decorations on the front, along with MOP.  The dial glass is period but probably not original; the latch is broken.  The metal dial holds the original paint but has been touched up.  Hands are period.  Jerome commonly put 8-day, time-and-strike fusee movements in this case style; the movement is signed “C Jerome | New Haven”.  It runs briefly and strikes, but needs cleaning.  The bottom of the back is hinged to access the pendulum; a good card label is attached to the back.  No recent sales of this model, but in the early 2000’s they sold for $250-$625.
