209.    $250

Forestville Manufacturing Co. ripple-front shelf clock, 1842-1849.  An uncommon model with a fusee movement.  The 18-inch case is veneered in rosewood with a gloss finish.  The dial glass is period, the frosted tablet a modern replacement, but appropriate.  The contoured metal dial holds the original paint and signature of J.C. Brown; it is soiled, faded, and spotted.  The hands are period, minute hand slightly questionable.   The 8-day, time-and-strike fusee movement is signed “Forestville M.F.G.” and is running, but the strike is hung-up.  Battered label is behind plastic, with sufficient information to establish the manufacturer.  I can find only one other sale of this model, in 2013 at R.O. Schmitt for $225; it had some deficiencies.  $250-$500.
