208.    $3500

Forestville Mfg. Co. “miniature acorn”, 1842-1849.  J.C. Brown made three types of shelf acorns: the most common style has side-arms and is 5 inches taller (#210), and the least common form is this one, with or without (as here) French feet.  The 19-inch case is veneered in rosewood and I see no flaws.  Both glasses are original, the lower with excellent retention of the Fenn pattern.  The contoured metal dial is original with the original paint and some wear; the hands are original. The 8-day time-and-strike fusee movement is stamped “Forestville M.F.G. Co. | Bristol Ct U.S.A.”; it is running and striking. There is a dark green label with some losses but clearly states the manufacturer and manager (JC Brown).  This clock is as original as it gets and in superb condition.  Cottone’s sold a similar example in 2018 for $4250.  $3500-$5000.
