Antique American Clocks July 2021
151. $100
Seth Thomas “Bee”, ca. 1881. A 15-inch ebony cabinet clock with marqueterie on the front
panel; the bee is in the upper right corner. The case is clean and relatively free of scuffs and scrapes. The 4-inch dial
is porcelain with Seth Thomas above the mainstem, sitting behind a flat beveled glass. The hands are replacements, not quite
to specs. The round, 8-day, time-and-strike movement is running, begrudgingly, and striking slowly on the hours and half-hours. It is signed “Seth Thomas & Sons”. It strikes on a cathedral gong. $100-$200.
