113.      $1000

Forestville Hardware & Clock Co. sub-miniature steeple, 1853-1855.  A very rare clock from a short-lived company presided over by J.C. Brown.  The mahogany and rosewood case is 12.5 inches tall with only one noticeable veneer chip, two original glasses, an original painted metal dial and proper hands.  Some wear to the frosted lower glass. The 30-hour time-only pinned movement is unsigned and running like a champ.  The interior label is a bit beat up but shows everything you want to know.  Note that this case lacks side finials.  RO Schmitt’s sold one in 2014 for $1100; there are two examples on LiveAuctioneers that have side finials (see #114).    $1000-$2000.
