Antique American Clocks July 2021
105. $1200
Birge & Fuller candlestick double steeple, 1844-1848. This nicely restored clock has an
8-day wagon spring movement. It is 26 inches tall with three old glasses; the middle glass has been touched up nicely; the bottom
glass repainted. There are some veneer repairs on and around the upper door, and the candlesticks are accurate replacements. The metal dial has been repainted and touched up, the hands are correct. The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed Birge
& Fuller; it will run briefly and the strike chain from the lever spring will come off with a bang. A readable label with
some losses inside. Cottone’s sold a similar example in 2018 for $1500. $1200-$1800.
