102.     $1000

Benjamin Morrill New Hampshire mirror clock, ca. 1830.  Morrill worked out of Boscawen NH, just north of Concord in the early 1800’s and is best known for mirror clocks like this one.  The “wheelbarrow” movement is his invention, with the escape wheel at the right and the pendulum below it; the weight descends on the left.  The dial here is a replacement and not period; the weight is also a modern replacement.  The hands are period and the pendulum and bob are probably correct.  The dial glass is old but has been repainted by Tom Moberg to a Morrill-style glass; the mirror is mid-twentieth century. The case is in the style used by Morrill, with the gilding and columns repainted.  The clock is running tentatively and may need service.  Morrill clocks have been selling for $900-$1200.
