Antique American Clocks July 2021
97. $800
George A. Jones regulator, 1864-1874. A 48-inch ebonized case with a time-only regulator
movement, a gridiron pendulum, a porcelain dial, and a sweep seconds hand. This model is not shown in my G.A. Jones catalog
reprint (Books, #929) and would be the smallest regulator in his catalog. The door glass is modern, the two side glasses original. The porcelain dial has some faint hairlines and patching at the center post; it is signed Geo. A Jones, New York. The hands
appear correct, the sweep seconds hand is a replacement. The clock is running but is sensitive to positioning. There are
no label or markings on the case, but no evidence of a different movement. This clock sold at RO Schmitt’s in 2018 for $1500. $800-$1500.
