Wayne Cline banjo, ca. 2000?  Wayne Cline was an outstanding clockmaker who passed away in 2008.  He made many reproductions of early American clocks, including this weight-driven banjo.  The timepiece is 42 inches long in solid mahogany with two reproduction glasses, the tablet showing the victory of the American naval forces, led by Captain (later Admiral) Perry, over the British on Lake Erie in a key battle of the War of 1812.  Were it not for Perry’s bold attack it is likely that those of us living northwest of the Ohio River today would be Canadiens.   The painted dial is signed, the glass is convex, the eagle finial is sparkling.  Note the gold rope twists around the front of the case.  The 8-day movement is signed Wayne Cline but I believe it was made by Kilbourne & Proctor; the lead weight is also stamped Wayne Cline. The clock is running easily. Horton’s sold this model in 2018 for $1255.   $750-$1200.
