Ansonia Clock Co. “Don Juan”, ca. 1894.  A not-quite-monumental-sized figural, 19.5 inches across and 21 inches tall.  The metalwork has been professionally refinished in an antique gold with a lacquer-like finish. The black lacquer metal base is without blemishes and the gilt incising is still evident.  The porcelain dial is perfect; the open escapement has steel pallets.  The 8-day time-and-strike movement is signed and running and striking on the hours and half-hours. You can find this clock listed on page 149 of Ly’s book Ansonia Clocks & Watches.  This model typically sells for $300-$600 in good, refinished condition.
