Antique American Clocks July 2021
52. $1200
Ansonia “Georgia”, ca. 1892. The Georgia stands just over 13 inches tall and 17.5 inches
wide with a high-relief bronzed front and silvered figures in the alcoves. The decorative metalwork has been professionally
restored but the case itself was not, and it shows a few small chips on the top and edges. There is a two-piece signed dial
with cartouche numbers and fancy pierced hands, and a visible escapement with steel pallets. There is a thick beveled glass
in the sash. The 8-day movement is signed with a rack and snail strike mechanism; it is running and striking on a cathedral
gong without issue. There is no rear door. AAC sold a very similar Georgia last winter for $1600. $1200-$1600.
