Antique American Clocks July 2021
40. $1000
Silas B Terry painted cottage, 1852-1853. A simple pine clock with a ladder movement,
likely made about 1852 before he formed the Terryville Manufacturing Co. in 1853. The 10.5-inch-tall case retains the original
painted paper surface and both original glasses, the painted dial and brass hands. The unsigned 30-hour ladder movement
with the spring on the back is running, there is a very old and possibly original pendulum bob, and a great label. You can find
only a couple of other examples that have sold, the best example being one sold at Skinner in 2011 for $1000. $1000-$1500.
