Welch, Spring & Co. “Italian No. 1”, 1868-1884.  A 19-inch case in rosewood veneer in excellent condition.   The glasses are both original, with good retention of the gilt star tablet.  The dial is painted, probably original, the hands likely appropriate replacements.  The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed “E.N. Welch Forestville”; it is running and striking on a wire gong.  The alarm is hooked up but not tested; it strikes on a small iron bell.  There is a good label behind plastic inside.  A nice example.  $100-$200.
