Boston area production banjo, ca. 1850.  A 29-inch grain-painted case in the style of the Howard No. 5 banjo.  The glasses are old, the painted glasses poorly touched up such that the gold lines are uneven.  The dial is old paint, flaking a bit and unsigned, as is the standard 8-day, time-only banjo movement.  The lead weight is atypical, the weight shield is missing and there is no label.  $250-$500.
