Antique American Clocks January 2021

Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 13 Shelf Kildare”, 1878-1916. The 26.75-inch mahogany
case is flawless with no replacements or losses, and displays the extensive carvings and fluting seen in the early models. This
model typically came with black paper dials and nickel-plated hands; the optional white paper dials with black hands found here are
likely original or very old replacements. The beveled glass pendulum is the later model (see Ly, Calendar Clocks, page 134). The door glass is almost certainly original. The 8-day time-and-strike movement is unsigned, running and striking the hours
and half-hours on a cathedral gong. The calendar is advancing. There is a faded instruction label on the back. I
can find nothing wrong or unoriginal on this uncommon Ithaca. Horton’s sold this clock in 2018 for $2650. $2400-$2800.
