Antique American Clocks July 2020
439. $250
West German hunter cuckoo, ca. 1970. The 30-hour movement is stamped “West Germany” and the condition
suggests a relatively recent origin. It is 23 inches in length with the impressive antlers on the deer head; there is also the
iconic rabbit and pheasant hanging from the sides with a hunter’s horn wrapping the dial. This is a good quality case with well
carved decorations. The hands are plastic, the dial has raised numbering. The brass movement is running and striking,
and the cuckoo bird is popping out and chirping on the hours and half-hours. Note that the antlers are plastic. $250-$500.
