Antique American Clocks July 2020
421. $200
Gustav Becker wall clock, ca. 1890. This is an unusual German clock, about 30 inches tall and
24 inches wide, in a walnut case with lots of intricate carvings. The case has been cleaned but is not immaculate. The
signed Becker movement is running, but the strike hammer has broken off and is taped to the back of the movement. The silver
and brass dial shows some wear. It is running, pendulum-regulated, but of course not striking (although it tries). The
top piece has been broken and repaired, the repair is not noticeable; the carvings on the left side were attacked by wood worms but
the infestation is no longer active. $200-$400.
