Antique American Clocks July 2020
315. $100
French/English/Ansonia balloon clock, ca. 1900. This is a beautiful English walnut or mahogany
balloon clock, 20.5 inches tall with a mixed wood inlay and satinwood lines all around the front. It sits on four brass ball
feet on the skirted base. With gold lion heads on the side I am not sure the wood finial on top is correct. I am practically
certain the Ansonia movement does not belong in this case, but there is no label on the case to be sure. I cannot find this
model in Ly’s book on Ansonia clocks. The dial and bezel are probably also Ansonia but the porcelain dial with the brass center
is not signed. The glass is beveled. The clock is running and striking. The case would benefit from a proper movement. $100-$200.
