Antique American Clocks July 2020
179. $300
E. N. Welch “Meyerbeer”, ca. 1892. The Meyerbeer came in black walnut and antique oak, as found
here. It’s a 40-inch clock with an old crusty finish. The door glass and lettering is original. The 8-inch dial
is paper over metal in good condition, with appropriate hands. The 8-day, time and half-hour strike is running without issue,
striking on a cathedral gong. Good labels on the back, signed Welch key included. Only two examples in the Antique Clocks
Price Guide, with the most recent sale at Schmitt’s in 2015 for $600. A nice example of an uncommon clock. $300-$600.
