Antique American Clocks July 2020
176. $1100
F. Kroeber “Regulator No. 33”, ca. 1880. A 46-inch walnut case with a clean finish and burl
panels on the crest and base. The base is missing the two outside drop finials, the door glass is newer and was originally with
an etched design; the paper dial is yellowed. It has a mirrored glass pendulum, a Kroeber beat scale, and the remains of two
labels behind plastic on the back. The signed 8-day time-and-strike movement is running easily and striking the hours on the
cathedral gong. Two recent sales at Schmitt’s for $1300 and $1400; Horton’s sold one in 2013 for $1227. $1200-$1400.
