Antique American Clocks July 2020
120. $100
E.N. Welch “Turret”, ca. 1900. Several manufacturers produced a Turret model, including Welch,
although it is not shown in the Welch Clocks book by Mr. Ly. R.O. Schmitt’s suggests it was made by Welch for the American Clock
Co. in New York; as there is no label here, we can only go on the signed movement and replaced paper dial. The 21-inch walnut
case has a polished finish with a new door glass (“Time is Money”) and a new signed paper dial, as noted. The 8-day time-and-strike,
signed movement is running and striking a wire gong on the hours, with a double-barrel pendulum. The alarm is hooked up but
not tested. No recent sales records. $100-$200.
