H. Welton & Co. 8-Day OG, 1840-1842.  The Welton brothers, Heman and Hiram, formed a short-lived company in Terrysville initially making wood movements and later brass movements designed by either Eli Terry or Jason Clemence.  This 8-day, weight-driven, brass time-and-strike movement is unsigned as is typical for Welton and has the escape wheel bridge typical of this maker; it is running and striking on a wire gong.  All of the clocks that I can find from this company are 30-hour OGs; the label on this clock has a paste-over stating that it is an 8-day clock, and it is the only 8-day Welton & Co. clock that I can find.  The flame mahogany veneer is in excellent shape, cleaned and polished and the tablet has been repainted nicely.  The tablet glass is replaced and painted by Lee Davis but the dial glass is original.  The wooden dial is in good shape with a large cut-out to view the brass movement.  Hands are replacements.    $125-$200.
