Antique American Clocks July 2020
77. $400
Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “Index”, 1882-1898. ICCC made two Index models, this is the
larger of the two, by 2 inches, at 33 inches tall. This one has undergone significant restoration. The case is walnut
with a clean and slightly glossy finish. The top part of the crest and the two side returns are replacements. The door
glass is modern and the gold lettering is not to specs. Both dials are paper, as usual, the time dial an older replacement with
some yellowing and spotting while the calendar dial may be original and shows some wear and soiling. As noted at the bottom
of the calendar dial, this clock was made for the Lynch Brothers who were in competition with the Southern Calendar Clock Co. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed Welch and is running and striking, the pendulum is a replacement. Note the large
nickel bell on the right in the window. The calendar movement is a replacement (note the nickel parts) and while the weekday
roller is advancing, the day of the month is not and will need attention. This is an acceptable looking clock and would bring
over $1000 were it in more original condition. $400-$600.
