Antique American Clocks July 2020
20. $160
Boardman & Wells fusee steeple, 1837-1843. These guys were prolific clockmakers in
Bristol CT. This clock is 19 inches tall with good mahogany veneer. Both glasses are old, the Fenn tablet original, with
an eagle carrying an olive branch and arrows, with 13 stars overhead. Exceptional. The dial is original with soiling and
chipping, the hands very old, and the unsigned 30-hour brass fusee movement is running but the strike is stalled. Good label
inside and an old pendulum bob. What more could you ask for? A key? It’s included! This clock sold at Schmitt’s
in 2014 for $180. $160-$200.
