Antique American Clocks July 2020
18. $400
Seth Thomas pillar & scroll, ca. 1830. A 31-inch clock with two replaced glasses
and the tablet painted by a Mr. Moberg. Everything else looks very original, and in very good shape. The scroll tips are
unrepaired – how often do you see that?! The brass urn finials are Seth Thomas style, with metal posts; the feet and skirt look
fine. The dial is clean, the hands appear to be replacements. There is an ivory escutcheon and door key. The 30-hour
wooden works is running and striking, driven by two old weights and regulated by a lead-backed pendulum bob. Good label inside. An attractive example. $400-$600.
