Antique American Clocks January 2020
335. $100
Jerome & Co. “drum head”, ca. 1860. The last of the four Jeromes listed here, clearly of the
same period but in a very different style. Thirteen inches tall and 12.25 inches wide, in a walnut veneer with black/ebonized
trim around the dial but no gutta percha L. The dial has been papered and antiqued; the old glass is held in place by a twisted
copper rope, also seen on other examples. The 8-day time-and-strike movement is unsigned, running and striking on a wire gong. The label is on the back, a bit beat up, but the important stuff is there. The case could stand a good cleaning. Several
sales listed in the Antique Clocks Price Guide, but nothing recent. $100-$200.
