Antique American Clocks January 2020
301. $25
Wm. Gilbert “Geranium”, ca. 1900. This is a variant of the Geranium made for an independent
marketer; the label on the back is very incomplete, but it appears to be “Joyce____” out of Boston MA. It differs from the model
shown in Gilbert catalog photos in the form of the base. It is pressed oak, very nicely refinished, 24 inches high. The
door glass is a replacement, the dial glossy paper, the hands period and correct. The pendulum bob has lost its luster. The 8-day Gilbert movement is running and striking on the hours and half-hours, although the strike is a bit slow, probably because
it hasn’t been used in decades or longer. The alarm was not tested. $35-$100.
