Antique American Clocks January 2020
28. $1200
Seth Thomas “Office Calendar No. 1”, ca. 1875. Horton’s sold several of these in recent
years, none better looking than this one. The rosewood veneer is quite nice here, no missing pieces, no repairs evident. The painted dials are old, the time dial possibly original, the calendar dial repainted a while ago. The upper glass is old,
the calendar glass modern. The hands are old but may not be original, the mount for the minute hand has been repaired. The 8-day weight-driven movement is unsigned and running, but not with commitment, and stops frequently. The pendulum rod is
correct, the bob a replacement, I think. The weight that runs down the right side is correct. The calendar movement is
functioning, the day and date are advancing. It is 40 inches long. $1200-$1500.
