Antique American Clocks January 2020
25. $100
Seth Thomas “Eclipse”, ca. 1880. A 24.5-inch walnut case with a clean, slightly glossy
finish. Old glass in the door with a good gold stencil. A signed paper dial in a bright brass bezel. The 8-day,
half-hour strike Seth Thomas movement is running and striking. The pendulum has the correct Eclipse-signed bob. An untested
alarm, an instruction label inside. Only flaw – the hour hand is incorrect, but a close match to the original. A popular
Seth Thomas shelf clock. Horton’s sold one a year ago every bit as nice for $150. $125-$175.
