E. Howard & Co. “No. 11 Regulator”, ca. 1874.  A 31.5-inch cherry case with rosewood graining under a dark and possibly original finish.  The dial glass is original, the lower glass likely a replacement.  The dial is likely original with the original paint and signature; the hands are as well.  The 8-day time-only movement is running without a hitch, regulated by a Howard pendulum and bob and driven by a No. 11 weight.  There is a tie-down and a label on the back of the door.  There is a Delaney Antique Clocks label as well.  Note that ‘18’ is stamped into the bottom edge and on the hinges.  The bottom of this clock was broken out and professionally restored – I had to look hard to find the evidence.  There are some of you who will pass up this beautiful clock because of that, but the rest of you should be jumping on it.  It’s just shy of perfect, and gosh-darn hard to find.  Cottone’s sold one last fall for $5250.  $2500–$5000.
