Ansonia Clock Co. “Don Juan”, ca. 1894. A cast metal figural
of Don Juan, “a fictional Spanish libertine who devotes his life to seducing women.” The clock stands 21.5 inches tall and 19.5
inches wide with overall loss of the Japanese bronze finish; the side pieces and sword are in brass. The dial glass is flat
and beveled; the dial is porcelain with fancy gold hands and a visible escapement with steel pallets. The enameled cast iron
case is in good condition with much of the gilding retained in the front decorative incisings. The 8-day, time-and-strike Ansonia
movement is running and striking on a cathedral gong. No recent sales of this model. $150–$300.
