134. $250
Seth Thomas Clock Co. “Empire No. 25” (Rough Rider), ca. 1909. I’ve not seen this model before and there is only one sale on LiveAuctioneers for $300. The 18-inch case is spelter with a Syrian
Bronze finish, worn off in the high places; the Rough Rider is bronze. There are four beveled glasses and a signed porcelain
dial with the correct hands (Ly, Seth Thomas Clocks & Movements, Vol. 1, page 247). The round movement has the ST logo and
is running and striking the cathedral gong on the hours and half-hours. The Rough Riders were a cavalry regiment in the Spanish-American
War (1898) led by Teddy Roosevelt. $250–$500.
