132.           $300

Ansonia Clock Co. “Symbol Extra”, ca. 1894.  Ansonia made four Symbol models, this one is the most common and has a polished gilt finish, standing 15.5 inches tall.  There are three thick beveled glasses with a black metal backboard.  The brass is tarnished and needs to be polished.  The ornate gilt dial has cartouche numerals with wear to the numeral backgrounds; the ornate gold hands are correct.  There is a visible escapement with steel pallets and the 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement has nickel plates, is signed, and is running and striking on a cathedral gong.  A similar example sold at Fontaine’s in 2021 for $400.  $300–$500.
