Garrard & Co. 350th Anniversary chiming clock, 1981. This 15-inch bracket case holds a time, strike, and chime lever-spring movement made by F.W. Elliot to commemorate the 350th anniversary
of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers in England. There is brass trim on the front and sides, the painted metal dial sits
behind a convex glass. There is a strike/silent lever on the right side of the dial, and a lever on the movement that allows
you to select Westminster, Whittington, or Westchester chimes on the quarter hours. The back of the movement is engraved and
marked “F.W. Elliott, No. 143/350”. There is also a small, framed certificate that accompanies the clock. The clock is
running but I can’t get it to strike or chime. Something is out of place, but fixing it is above my pay grade. One of
these clocks sold at Toovey’s in England in 2019 for $421. $125–$300.
