114.           $50

Ansonia Brass & Copper Co. “Gothic Gem”, 1869-1877. This company primarily manufactured copper wares; the clock manufacturing business split off in 1877 to form the second Ansonia Clock Co.  The 18.5-inch case is veneered in rosewood with some chipping along the base.  Both glasses are old, but the dial glass may have been replaced; the lower tablet appears to be original.  The hinge at the top is broken.  The dial is a replacement and has been repainted; the hands are replacements as well.  The unsigned 8-day time-and-strike movement is very dirty and oily and will not run or strike.  There is a tattered label inside that notes the uncommon manufacturer.  $50–$150.
