104. $175
Welch, Spring & Co. “Lucca”, ca. 1880. A higher-end
model by Welch, marketed under the Welch, Spring & Co. label. The rosewood-veneered case is 23 inches tall with three correct
and possibly original finials. The side glasses are original, the door glass a modern replacement with a not-quite-right stencil. The two-part painted dial is likely original with acceptable hands. The 8-day, time-and-strike movement is signed Welch and
is running and striking on the nickel bell. The interior of the case has black flocking paper and the pendulum is a proper sandwich
glass pendulum. Remnants of a label on the back. AAC sold a Lucca last January for $200. $175–$250.
