237.         $150

Gustav Becker spring-driven wall clock, ca. 1901.  A 37.5-inch walnut case with a full-length door and “portico” for the pendulum.  The case has lots of carved elements and metal trim pieces and looks all original, with the possible exception of the back baseboard.   The dial glass is modern, the lower glass and side glasses are old.  The porcelain dial is decorated with a gold centerpiece and fancy hands.  The 8-day, time and half-hour strike movement is signed, has a gold-medal emblem, and a serial number of 256169, dating to around 1901.  It is running but considerably out of plumb, regulated by an elaborate pendulum; it strikes on a single long rod.  $150–$250.
