171.           $350

Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. “No. 4 Hanging Office”, 1869-1918. A second example of this workhorse calendar clock that was appreciated for its 12-inch dial and easy visibility across an office. It came with a variety of movements, and even came without a calendar.  This walnut example contains an 8-day time-and-strike movement.  The movement is unsigned and may be a later replacement; it is running and striking on a cathedral gong.  The finish is clean, the glasses old/original, and the paper dials show plenty of age.  The hands are correct.  There is a nickel pendulum bob; the calendar is advancing.  Lots of warnings against oiling the calendar mechanism but I went ahead and oiled it for you, it looked dry.  Just kidding!  Good instruction label on the back.  $350–$450.
